Candy Maze
Clear every candy from a generated maze before the timer runs out, planning routes instead of reacting.
Sweep a candy cart left and right through accelerating sugar lanes, chaining pickups before the belt outruns you.
Move the cart with the left and right arrow keys, the A and D keys, or by holding a finger anywhere on the lower half of the screen on a touch device. The cart moves toward your finger rather than teleporting, so small corrections are possible mid-wave. There is no jump and no attack: the entire game is positioning. Press P or the pause button to stop the belt, and press R to restart from the first wave.

Candy is collected on contact with the top edge of the cart. You do not need to centre the sweet, and the cart hitbox is slightly wider than it looks, which is deliberate - near misses at speed feel unfair otherwise. Sweets fall in four patterns: single drops, straight trails of three to five, shallow arcs that drift sideways as they fall, and clusters that occupy two lanes at once. Clusters are the main combo risk because collecting all of one usually means abandoning whatever is falling in the far lane.
Bitter drops are matte grey-green and fall at the same speed as ordinary candy. Touching one does no damage to your cart and costs no life, but it resets your combo to zero, which in practice costs far more score than a collision would. Later waves mix bitter drops directly into candy trails so the trail can no longer be swept blindly. From wave seven onward a small number of bitter drops fall faster than the candy around them.

Candy Magnet widens the collection radius for eight seconds and is the single best pickup during a high combo. Sweet Multiplier doubles candy value for six seconds and stacks with your combo multiplier, so a magnet followed by a multiplier is the highest-scoring sequence in the game. Shield absorbs one bitter drop without breaking the combo, which makes it worth deliberately holding a shield through a cluster wave rather than spending it.
Each candy has a base value between one and five depending on type: candy drops are worth one, gummies two, lollipops three and sugar crystals five. The value is multiplied by your current combo tier and again by any active Sweet Multiplier. Surviving a full wave without breaking the combo adds a wave bonus equal to the wave number times fifty. Because the wave bonus grows linearly while the belt speed ramps in steps, the scoring curve rewards long clean runs far more than aggressive sweeping.
The combo tier rises one step for every five consecutive pickups and caps at five times. A single missed candy that reaches the floor drops you one tier rather than resetting to zero; only bitter drops reset completely. That asymmetry is the core decision of the game - it is often correct to let one candy fall in order to avoid a bitter drop that would wipe the whole chain.
Candy Rush is rated Medium relative to the rest of the Candy Arcade library. Difficulty on this site comes from level design, hazard density and timing windows rather than from degrading your controls, and the rating describes how demanding the execution is rather than how complicated the rules are.
The mechanics involved are: Lane movement, Combo chaining, Speed ramp, Risk candy, Multiplier pickups. If this game is too demanding, the candy rush games category page lists the easier games that use overlapping skills.

Yes. On a touch device the cart follows your finger anywhere on the lower half of the screen, so your hand never covers the falling candy.
You almost certainly touched a bitter drop in the same frame. Bitter drops are matte grey-green and reset the combo tier to zero, unlike a missed candy which costs one tier.
