Privacy Policy
Candy Arcade stores your scores and preferences in your own browser. Nothing is uploaded to us, because there is nowhere to upload it to.
Summary
Candy Arcade is a static website. It has no server-side application, no database, no accounts and no login. Your scores, favourites, play history and preferences are stored by your browser on your own device using the local storage API, and they never leave it. We cannot read them and we do not have a copy.
As published, this site runs no analytics script, no advertising script, no social media pixel and no third-party tracker. If that changes, this page will be updated before the change goes live, and the cookie policy will describe what is set.
What we store on your device
The following values are stored in your browser's local storage under keys beginning with "ca:". This is the complete list.
- bestScore, bestCandy, bestCombo, bestDistance, bestTime and bestLevel - your personal records, stored per game.
- plays and gamesPlayed - how many times you have started each game on this device.
- favorites - the list of games you have marked as favourites.
- recentlyPlayed - which games you started and when, capped at the thirty most recent.
- soundPreference - whether you have sound on or off.
- reducedMotionPreference - whether you have asked for reduced motion.
- A small number of per-game display preferences, such as the shapes mode in Rainbow Candy Quest.
None of this identifies you. There is no name, no email address, no device identifier and no account. It is a list of numbers and game names in your own browser.
How to see or delete what is stored
Because it is your browser's storage, you have complete control over it. Clearing site data for candyarcade.xyz in your browser settings removes everything listed above permanently. Your browser's developer tools will also show you the exact stored values if you want to inspect them.
There is also a button on this page that clears all Candy Arcade data from this device immediately. Using it will erase your high scores and favourites, and we cannot restore them afterwards because we never had them.
Private browsing and blocked storage
If you use private browsing, or your browser blocks site data, local storage may be unavailable or cleared when you close the window. Candy Arcade detects this and keeps your scores in memory for the current session so the games still work correctly, but they will be lost when you leave. Game pages show a notice when this is happening rather than silently losing your records.
Server logs
This site is served as static files by a web host. Like essentially every web server, the host records standard request information - IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent - for security and operational purposes. We do not use these logs to build profiles, and we do not combine them with anything else. This processing is carried out by the hosting provider under their own terms.
Third-party services
As published, Candy Arcade loads no third-party scripts, fonts, images or frames. Everything the site needs is served from candyarcade.xyz. This means no third party is in a position to observe your visit through this site.
If advertising is added in future, an advertising provider would be able to set cookies or similar identifiers and would process data under its own privacy policy. We would update this page and the cookie policy to name the provider and describe what it does before any such script went live. We will not add a tracker and document it afterwards.
Children
Candy Arcade is suitable for general audiences and contains no violence, gambling, real-money mechanics or purchases. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, because we do not collect personal information at all. There is no account to create and no data to submit.
Your rights
Data protection law gives you rights over personal data held about you, including access, correction and erasure. In our case those rights are unusually simple to exercise: we hold no personal data about you, and the data that exists is in your own browser where you can inspect or delete it at any time. If you believe we hold something about you and want to ask, write to hello@candyarcade.xyz.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated date at the top of this page changes with it. Changes that affect what is collected or who can see it will be described here rather than made quietly. The most likely future change is the introduction of advertising, which we would document before enabling.

Clear your Candy Arcade data
This removes every score, favourite, play count and preference Candy Arcade has stored in this browser. It cannot be undone, and we cannot restore anything afterwards because we never had a copy.
