Cookie Policy

The short version

Candy Arcade sets no cookies of its own. It loads no third-party scripts, so no third party sets cookies through it either. What the site does use is local storage, which stays on your device and is never sent to any server.

We are not claiming a cookie banner is unnecessary as a technicality. There is genuinely nothing being set, which you can verify in your browser's developer tools under the Application or Storage tab.

Cookies versus local storage

A cookie is a small piece of data stored by your browser and sent to the server with every subsequent request to that site. That automatic transmission is what makes cookies useful for sessions and useful for tracking.

Local storage is also stored by your browser, but it is never transmitted anywhere. It can only be read by code running on the same site, and only on the device where it was written. Your Candy Arcade high score exists on one device, in one browser, and nowhere else.

What we store, and why

The complete list of stored values is in the privacy policy. In summary, it is your per-game records, your favourites, your recently played list, your sound preference and your reduced-motion preference. All of it exists to make the site work the way you would expect on a return visit: your best score is still there, your sound is still off, the games you liked are still marked.

None of it identifies you, and none of it is used for advertising, analytics or profiling, because none of those things are running here.

How to clear it

Clear site data for candyarcade.xyz in your browser settings, and everything is gone permanently. There is also a clear-data button on the privacy policy page that does the same thing immediately. Either way, your high scores are erased and cannot be recovered, because we hold no copy.

If advertising is added later

Candy Arcade is built to support advertising, and advertising may be introduced. If it is, an advertising provider would be able to set cookies or use similar identifiers, and would process data under its own policy rather than ours.

Before any advertising script is enabled, this page will be updated to name the provider, describe what it sets and how long it persists, and link to its own policy. Where consent is legally required, it will be requested before those cookies are set rather than afterwards. We would rather write that commitment down now than be judged on how we behave later.

Third-party content

There are no embedded videos, social widgets, web fonts, comment systems or frames on this site. Every asset is served from candyarcade.xyz. This is a deliberate choice and one of the reasons the cookie situation is as simple as it is.
